J-165B (1854 Bronze Three-Leaf LFE)

According to the website of The Society of US Pattern Collectors, fewer than six
examples of this pattern exist.  This pattern is special in that the three-leaf reverse
appears on the J-165B and no other 1854 or 1855 large flyer.  The J-165B first
appears in the sixth edition of the Judd Book (1977).  According to that edition, three
examples are confirmed, with one specimen residing in the National Numismatic
Collection of the Smithsonian Institution.  The other two are "R. B. White" and "Wilson,
ex-S.Jaffe, Kosoff Private sale 1979."  I have personally seen the Smithsonian
specimen, a PCGS PR64BN and a PCGS PR66RB.  To date, I have not confirmed
their pedigrees, but I suspect one or two others exist.  A coin previously described in
Judd as a J-165 (The Massachusetts Historical Society
specimen) is a J-165B (the
PCGS PR66RB), not a J-165.
No J-165Bs appear in the NGC census, and aside from
the two mentioned here, a PCGS PR62BN and a PCGS PR63BN may exist.  I say
"may," as I suspect it may be the same coin that originally graded 62, but was
upgraded to 63.  The coin pictured above is the PCGS PR64BN I have seen.
